HI THERE. I'M SARA!

I’m a California girl, blogger, entrepreneur, and writer with big writing dreams. Like New York Times big!

I’m very much into pomegranate fizz, curling up on the couch with the latest swoon-worthy fantasy novel, and writing my way to a life I don’t need a vacation from.

Welcome to my small corner of the internet, where I talk fiction and writing tips and share inspiration for bringing stories to life.

A novel ten years in the making

My story lay tucked away in a dusty part of my computer for far too long.

Not too long ago, instead of writing, you would have found me wearing a stuffy lawyer’s pants suit, exhausted, stressed, and drowning in legal files. Law was supposed to be my dream career, but that dream quickly faded.

Something was missing in my life, and I realized it was the story I had left unwritten so many years before.

My inspiration for creative writing (interestingly) came from my law school professor, a fiction writer, and truly inspirational woman. In her Legal Writing class, I became a confident writer and found a love for fiction that would pursue me relentlessly for the next ten years.

My newfound love for creative writing collided with my obsession for YA novels. During class breaks, I could be found at Barnes and Noble, scanning the shelves for my next read.

Struck by the awe factor that can only be found in books, I read series after series. Then, one day I thought to myself, why not try my hand at writing my own story? After all, I had the love and passion for creative writing.

So, that’s what I did.

Fast forward ten years, and life would hit the brakes on that original writing dream. Life took me on a detour as I went on to practice law and start a family.

But through the years, I never lost that spark for writing. While moving full steam ahead with my law career and raising a family, I gave my dream a glimmer of hope.

I finished a draft of my story.

Excited, I sat back and read my draft. It was a hot mess!

A hot mess that served to show me how much I still had to learn about crafting a story.

I thought of giving up, but somehow, I never lost FAITH in myself or my writing.

FAITH and staying the course are the best writing tips to see you through any writing struggle.

After reading books, taking classes, attending conferences, and entering contests, I finished a quality first draft. It all happened during that amazing event, National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).

It feels incredible to finally have a good first draft of my story. A story bound and pressed by a labor of love and fueled by all the knowledge I’ve gained throughout the years.

Finally, a taste of writing success!

the next chapter

Currently... I’m probably sipping mango peach fizz, brainstorming my next book, and plotting ways we can all achieve our writing dreams.

I’ve turned the corner from the early writing stages to the editing phase. I’m deep into polishing the first draft and getting it submission ready.

This brings me to the blog. It’s my mission for this site to be a collection of all my learnings. A safe space where I can share tips, answer questions and hopefully help writers who are in the early stages, just like I was.

If I can help one person finish their first draft, this blog will have served its purpose.

I hope you will stick around and become part of a growing community of passionate writers. Lets connect and become writing friends. I want to get to know you and your story!

So, don’t be a stranger. Reach out, send me a message, or comment on my latest post and tell me all about your story.

Keep on writing, and I’ll find you in the next chapter…
